Talks With Toni - A podcast by Toni Gargan - Wednesdays
Toni is saying thank you to everyone and looking forward to the new year by looking at goals for public speaking in this informative and enjoyable podcast. When you are setting goals for the next 12 months it’s important they are set, broken down and are smart goals. Toni explains exactly how you can do this with detailed examples and provides possible starting goals that can be personalised for anyone who is developing as a public speaker. Toni shares how being strategic and developing your organisation, confidence and delivery are key foundations and why it’s not about the instant gratification but the journey and process involved. KEY TAKEAWAYS Organise – this can be anything from organising your diary through to booking in your gigs and building relationships. You need to be strategic about your organisation to make sure you include all you want to do by putting some dates against completion of particular projects. Confidence comes through practise and preparation of your speeches and through self-belief and mindset. Improving your confidence can mean you will reach a bigger goal Delivery -this is your format and style, how you keep the audience engaged and how you interact with them. When deciding on your goals for presenting, and speaking you should start with your basic goal and make it a SMART goal Smart goals Specific - these help you to drill down into the details Measurable – goals need to measurable so you know if you’ve achieved. Achievable – breaking your big goal into steps that enable you to achieve your ultimate big goal. R – realistic what can you realistically achieve? Don’t make things too hard or too easy T – time it’s vital to put a time frame on any goal so you can achieve it. It’s important to have a goal for the year and look back each quarter reviewing what went well and what didn’t celebrate the wins, identify the challenges and look at what you can do differently in the next quarter. Ultimately the most important thing is to commit to it and do it BEST MOMENTS ‘I find it really disheartening if I set a goal then don’t achieve it’ ‘You need to ask yourself is it possible?’ ‘If they’ve done it you can do it too’ ‘Are you setting yourself up for failure by not choosing something that is realistic and ultimately achievable?’ VALUABLE RESOURCES Presenting, Pitching, Public Speaking Podcast Unlimited Success Progressive Property ABOUT THE HOST Toni Gargan is a Double World Record-holding Public Speaker, Mentor, Entrepreneur, and Professional Property Investor.
