Nail polish is regulated by the FDA under the umbrella of cosmetics. According to the FDA, “Many nail products contain potentially harmful ingredients, but are allowed on the market because they are safe when used as directed”. Despite the FDA deeming nail products safe for their intended use, some questions have been raised about the safety of some of the chemicals used in these products. Pregnancy raises new concerns because any chemicals you come into contact with could potentially reach your baby.
