Q&A: Allergies
Pregnancy Podcast - A podcast by Vanessa Merten
Categories:
An allergic reaction happens when your immune system reacts to what would normally be a harmless substance, like a food, to be an invader and creates immunoglobulin E or IgE antibodies. Once your body produces these antibodies, the next time the allergen is introduced to your body your immune system attacks it, and you have an allergic reaction. This can range from mild symptoms like a rash to full on anaphylactic shock. This episode answers a listener question as to whether your baby can have an allergic reaction in the womb and if there is a way to prevent your baby from developing allergies in the future.
