Fathia Absie & Ilays Aden - Eat With Muslims

Peace Catalyst Podcast - A podcast by Peace Catalyst International - Tuesdays

In this, the final episode of our Muslim Women Peacemakers series, we talk with Fathia Absie and Ilays Aden, the founders of Eat With Muslims. As Somali-American women and activists, Fathia and Ilays wanted to deal with rampant misconceptions about Muslims and help neighbors get to know one another, and they found that the best way to do it was through shared meals.  Fathia is a writer, public speaker, and filmmaker whose films include the documentary “Broken Dreams” and the narrative film “The Lobby.” Ilays is an activist who has studied Economics, African Studies, and Law and works to build relationships among diverse communities around the Puget Sound.   Eat With Muslims: www.eatwithmuslims.org More about Fathia and Ilays: https://www.eatwithmuslims.org/the-kitchen   Edited and Produced by Nicole Gibson Music: Shesh Pesh by J.R.
