How do you define success for your family?  If you haven't explicitly thought about it, you are most likely following a definition of success set by elite colleges - good grades, lots of extracurriculars, maximum post-college earnings, etc.  Unfortunately, that definition sets most kids up for struggle rather than success. (Even the kids elite colleges accept because they end up defining themselves by those external measures.)
