An Ode to Teachers

Ordinary People. Ordinary Things. with Melissa Radke - A podcast by Melissa Radke

Are you a teacher? Do you love a teacher, know a teacher, had a teacher, or have been a teacher before? If so, this podcast is specifically for you. I was a voice teacher for three weeks and found it scary and terrifying and ended up quitting. Teachers are underpaid and under appreciated. Today, I am talking to teachers and those who love teachers. Next week is teacher appreciation week, and I want to talk about the job that every girl at my high school wanted except for me. Today is an ode to teachers.  You can find Melissa here:  Podcast Web Page  Facebook Page  @MsMelissaRadke on Instagram  @msmelissaradke on Twitter  Show Notes  [00:21] How being a teacher is one of the jobs that I would like to do the least.  [00:35] I taught voice lessons for three weeks and woke up with diarrhea every single morning.  [01:13] Today, I am taking an opportunity to speak to teachers directly.  [02:21] Being a teacher is a job of purpose. It's no mistake. There is nothing that God hasn't thought out, and you are a teacher because you are supposed to be.  [03:40] How the Bible says that there are seasons and a time for everything.  [04:35] If you read Ecclesiastes, you will see that you have spent your time teaching and preparing to teach, because it is what you are supposed to be doing.  [08:05] Teachers are about teaching lessons so please don't miss this important lesson.  [08:53] The message of Hebrews 12 verses 1-3 as broke down in The Message Bible.   [11:08] In 2009, we had just moved to Lufkin, Texas. Remy had just started kindergarten.   [11:43] This was a tough year for us, and Remy had to hear a lot of yelling during this year.  [12:17] Remy's teacher was a constant in a pretty unconstant world.   [13:16] How God loves children and will do whatever it takes to make sure that they are surrounded by the constant.  [13:24] Children need to be surrounded by the love during the day, especially, if they are not surrounded by the love at night.  [14:07] You might be the favorite teacher of the town's next mayor. You might be the bright spot in that future surgeon’s day.  [14:30] Teachers have a selfless job, because they have to help these children find their purpose.  [14:49] Ecclesiastes 3 if it were written by a teacher…  [17:50] My lightning round that I wrote for my own self. (My feelings on school.)  [19:39] How to bless your teacher next week during teacher appreciation week.  [20:06] No apples, candles, or homemade potholders. Teachers like to look cute, and they are running out of things to wear.  [20:22] The I am so freaking valuable shirts sale out everywhere I go. Show your teacher how valuable you think they are.  Thanks for joining us on Ordinary People Ordinary Things. Be sure to subscribe to our podcast on iTunes and leave a nice review.
