National Treasures Goes To: Lewes Castle
National Treasures with Laura Lexx and Will Duggan - A podcast by National Treasures
Happy New Year everyone! Laura and Will kick off 2023 with a delightfully wholesome visit to Lewes Castle. Tucked away on a cobbled street just off the main High Street through Lewes, are the ruins of Lewes Castle. Built by William de Warrenne right back in the past when everything was a nightmare. They explore the history of Lewes and the castle, and then take a trip up through the ruins to the top of the keep. This was recorded in December when the snow was falling and the roads were treacherous - who knows what the weather is like now it's January? Literally could be anything given how the weather has been of late.Anyway, enjoy a bit of Norman history and beyond. Next week, we complete our trip with the recording of our visit round the archaeological museum. All in all, pretty blooming lovely. To hear the full version of this episode, with not a giggle cut, just join our patreon at patreon.com/nationaltreasures and receive full cuts of all our episodes, an extra podcast every week AND a monthly live stream all for just £5 per month. Lovely. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
