Hey crystal lovers! Today, I'm here with the amazing Cassie Uhl from Zenned Out Jewelry and Zenned Out Biz. I am so excited to be interviewing Cassie because when I found Zenned Out a few months ago, I absolutely fell in love with their jewelry, so I can't wait to share her business story with you. When I first found Cassie's website, I placed an initial order for over $300.00 worth of jewelry. I kind of just went crazy because there are so many great designs. However, as I started exploring the Zenned Out site and reading through Cassie's blog and saw her Zenned Out Biz site - I knew that I had to have her on the show. So, Cassie, welcome! Thank you so much for being here. Cassie Uhl: Thank you! I'm really happy to be here. Ashley: You know, I have to say, you are just such an inspiration with the work that you do. For those listening who are not familiar with Zenned Out, would you mind telling us a little bit about your story and how you got started with this business? Cassie: Yeah, of course! We started really small. Zenned Out Jewelry started as just a home-made, hand-made jewelry business in my home. At that time, I was teaching Arts in public schools full time. My husband and I moved to Arizona and I was just like, "You know what, I really feel like this is what I'm supposed to be doing." I felt really called, and I felt like I was going to be able to make more of a difference being an entrepreneur than I was as a teacher. Being a teacher is really hard. It just feels like your hands are tied all the time. Being an entrepreneur and running my own business, I just had so much freedom. I knew that I would be able to make a bigger impact that way. So, I really ran with it. The business grew quickly and before long, we moved the business out of the house into a spacious studio here in Tempe, Arizona. Now, I have a small handful of employees. They're all really amazing, quality women that work for me and help keep the business shining bright. Over the years, we really expanded from just making jewelry. Now I've been able to really focus my energy on what I'm even more passionate about, which is bringing spiritual tools to people that are really accessible and easy to implement. I want these tools to make getting started spirituality not so scary, because I think it can be really overwhelming for some people. Ashley: Yeah. I think that's true. I really love that story so much. Thank you for sharing that with everyone. I just have to tell you how much I love that you shared that, because I do find that in the interviews that I've done with other spiritual women business owners, the theme of freedom is so common. The ability to make more of an impact and make a bigger difference in the world is such amazing fuel for an entrepreneurial spirit, so I just love that story. Now I have to tell you, one thing that I love about Zenned Out Jewelry is that connection to spirit and this ability to create helpful tools for people. So, I'm just gonna tell a quick personal story... One of the very first things that I saw on your site that really drew my attention is a little rose gold ring. I haven't taken it off since the day it arrived. It has two little lotuses at the top and it says 'breathe' on the inside. So, I feel like that message is really just for me. Only I know it's there. When I look down and see that ring on my finger, it's such a reminder to be present in the moment. A reminder to take that deep breath, recenter myself, and get focused again. It has just made such a big impact having this little reminder. And so, even though sometimes the way we might think of jewelry is being inconsequential, it is actually so deeply meaningful and really personal. What was it about the jewelry specifically that made you feel like it would be a good medium for this art that you are creating?
