Episode 160: Lessons from Roseto, Pennsylvania

Life's Best Medicine Podcast - A podcast by Dr. Brian Lenzkes - Wednesdays

Thank you for tuning in for another episode of Life’s Best Medicine. In 1955 President Eisenhower had a heart attack and began a search to discover the cause of heart disease and heart attacks. Researchers discovered that Roseto, Pennsylvania, a small town on the Eastern side of the state, had a very unique population. It just so happens that the small Italian community that made up the majority of the population of this town had no fatal heart attacks under the age of 55. Also, those above the age of 65 had an all-cause-mortality of half that anywhere else in the U.S. What was their secret? Listen in and find out! Thank you for listening.
