After the fall, they needed the animal life for feeding and redeeming. Jesus is the Lamb of God for our feeding and for our redeeming. This is why He said we should eat His flesh and drink His blood. To eat Christ means to believe in Christ. When you believe in Christ, it means you are feeding on Him.
