We as human beings are not righteous, but Christ lived a righteous life that we might partake of it. Christ was able to pay for our debt of sins and remove the amenity with God. Everything that came from God points to Christ, including the law of God. Everything done by the prophets pointed to Christ and his righteousness, including the law. The law of God shows us that there is another means to be righteous before God, aside from the law itself.
