Over 80% of school leavers said that they wished they had learned more about money at school. Sorted in Schools are doing something about this by providing resources for both students and teachers. The goal is to improve financial capability. That means being good with money which is an essential life skill. It means being equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make good financial decisions at each life stage, and attain goals with choices. I am joined by Claire Bailey from Sorted In Schools who is a learning specialist and I ask her how the programme is progressing and what the vision is. Sorted in Schools is free for all secondary schools and designed by teachers for teachers. We are often quick to assume nothing is being done to educate our next generation about money but here’s an example of a resource that many people don’t know exists. I have a goal to help 100,000 Kiwis improve their financial literacy. Generate KiwiSaver Scheme has sponsored Keep The Change to help me reach more people and make this a reality. Cheers Generate. Head to generatekiwisaver.co.nz/change to find out more.
