What makes a horse an "elite pace-racer"? Laura Bas Conn

Icelandic horse podcast - A podcast by Mirjam Horn & Anna Munters

Categories:

We did an interview with veterinarian Laura Bas Conn at the Swedish Agricultural University (SLU) who is doing research on how different genes influence horses ability to preform in pace race. The Aim of this study is to investigate how mutations I three different genes, involved in motor function, speed, musculature, memory and ability to learn, affect the performance of Icelandic horses. Laura tells us about her research, and the intention to distinguish what makes a horse an "elite pace-racer" by looking into both the physical but also the psychological factors that affects horses ability to go in pace at high speed.  #slu #horsesoficeland
