Welcome part 5 of my conversation with Lydia Machova, from LanguageMentoring.com In Today's Episode: Make a Success of Long-Term Learning: I estimate it takes 500 hours (European language, B2 level, efficient time) = 2 years of 1 hours a day with breaks (2 months learning, 1 month break) ... but it's not necessary to learn non-stop! (My Swahili: 11 months, 5 of them off 🙂 ) - but I' m so much further ahead than a year ago! Always make a plan, with a starting and end date - otherwise it's too scary. Alternate methods: not one universal method for everyone, I keep alternating Goldlist and Anki, get tired of it after a few months The island and the wave: when will I not lose the language anymore?
