Finances // New Year, New You (Part 3)

HungryGen - A podcast by HungryGen

Message Notes: How can I see manage my finances this year?  1. Have emergency fund (Prov.21:20)  2. Live within your means (1Tim.6:6)  3. Use wisdom in investing (Ecc.11:1-6)  4. Avoid borrowing (Prov.22:7)  5. Work hard (2Th.3:10-12)  6. Work smart (Mt.25:14-30)  7. Don’t cut corners (Rev.9:21) But you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, although you knew all this. And you have lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven. They have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which do not see or hear or know; and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified. Daniel 5:22-23 Babylon is 50 miles of Bagdad. It was build in Genesis 10. Walls 300 feet tall and 4 chairs can ride on them. 60 miles around the city. It can last for 20 years. Enemy was at the gate, but Belshazzar was partying. He took holy articles dedicated to God but conquered by his dad and used them to drink from. He did that because he praised the god of gold. An arm appeared saying that his days are numbered and he is found very light in God’s eyes and his kingdom is going to be taken from him.  When it comes to finances ask these questions of yourself:  Are you living with end in mind?  How rich will you be heaven’s scales?  Who will take what you’re working so hard for?  Are you using for your pleasures what is supposed to be dedicated to God?  Is money your god?   Pig asked a cow “I give as much as you do, but they like you more”. Cow replied, “Maybe it’s because I give while I am still alive.” “Where your pleasure is, there is your treasure; where your treasure is, there is your heart; where your heart is, there is your happiness.” Augustine Return to Me, and I will return to you,” Says the Lord of hosts. “But you said, ‘In what way shall we return?’ “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, Malachi 3:7-10  Why tithing?  Tithing is about returning to God.  Tithing is about trusting in God.  Tithing is about bringing not giving. Tithing goes to your church.  Tithing encouraged by Jesus.  “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. Matthew 23:23 Jesus’ ministry was empowered by the Holy Spirit but supposed by people. For example, Mary borrowed her womb, wise men gave expensive gifts, Peter borrowed a boat, little boy gave his lunch, one man borrowed his donkey, Mary gave 1 year’s wages on perfume, one man borrowed his house for passover, another borrowed his tomb. “A man there was, and they called him mad; the more he gave, the more the had.” John Bunyan  How do I give?  Tithe.  Give according to your income lest the Lord reduces your income according to your giving Give to my pastor.  Support other ministries Sow where you wanna grow.
