Welcome to Harry Potter Theory..EXTRA. Today, we're going to be discussing the Chamber of Secrets. More specifically- we're going to be taking at a look at an unpublished segment from the book that was recommended to be cut by Rowling's editor. The passage in question pertains to none other than Nearly-Headless Nick, one of the ghosts of Hogwarts school.Nearly-headless-nick was a fifteenth-century nobleman that fell in love with 'Lady Grieve' - a lady-in-waiting. However, when Nick attempted to fix her crooked teeth with a spell his spell backfired and Grieve grew tusks instead. Nick was subsequently sentenced to death. Given the premature nature of his demise- I can see why he would want to stick around, or why he would have felt that his business was unresolved. In Rowling's first draft of the Chamber of Secrets, she has Nick singing a song explaining his whole situation. This song was CUT from the publication, but fortunately for us, Rowling did publish it on her website many years ago.Let's have a look, shall we?Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory Learn more about your ad choices.
