Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're going to be discussing Voldemort, his legions of followers, and one of the most fear-inspiring symbols in the wizarding world: The Dark Mark.Now- the Death Eaters were the most loyal followers of Voldemort - his innermost circle - and together they obeyed his every bidding in an effort to help 'cleanse' the wizarding world. The goal of the group was simple: establish pure-blood authority, and as devout followers of Voldemort and his cause they would do anything in order to achieve this goal. However, given that Voldemort's goal was to basically oppress anyone that wasn't a pure-blood witch or wizard, you'll be surprised to hear that some (less-official) members of the group weren't actually pure-bloods. In fact, many of their followers were of breeds that Death eaters held considerable stigma towards- people like Fenrir Greyback. Which is why there's an important distinction to make here. TRUE Death Eaters possessed the 'Dark Mark'- a fear-inspiring and sinister looking magical symbol that was etched in to the skin like a tattoo. This 'mark' was reserved for Voldemort's most loyal, devout and most importantly WORTHY followers, which is why someone like Greyback, a werewolf, never received this honour. But the question remains...Did VOLDEMORT himself have a DARK MARK?Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
