024: Cognitive Dissonance

Harmony in the Home - A podcast by Kelly Hutcheson - Wednesdays

Today we are learning fancy-schmancy word called “Cognitive Dissonance”. It sounds fancy, but what i really means is the uncomfortable emotions that come up between an old thought and a new thought. This is the reason why most people don’t achieve their goals; whether it’s something like a goal to lose weight, stop yelling at their kids, live in an organized house, have more connection with the spouse, write that book or build that business they’ve always dreamed of. The old thought feels so familiar like an old pair of jeans that we slip on and to challenge the unconscious mind feels challenging and uncomfortable so we have the choice of creating new thoughts to reach our goal or thinking the same thoughts and having the same result. I’ll give you a few examples of how to bridge the gap between the old thought and the new thought and to leapfrog to the result you’re wanting in your life.
