Since early 2010s climate action has been increasing in the court room both internationally and here in Australia. Each case challenges the environmental laws and systems we live in and can set new precedents and mandate for Governments to be pushed towards climate action. This episode of Earth matters recaps climate crisis litigation from 2021 and asks where to next? To answer the question the episode features a review of 2021 legal cases as well as guest features from  Fiona Lee of the Bushfire Survivors for Climate Action and Jonathon Hunyor, CEO of the Public Interest Advocacy Centre to discuss the significance of climate litigation in creating action on the environment. Other resources used in this episode include: Melbourne University Climate Change Litigation Database, Climate Change Case Chart - International and articles Climate litigation in Australia and Climate of Change in the Courtrooms, can the courts save us.
