The new government has said 'no thanks' to KiwiRail’s request for an extra $1.47 billion for infrastructure needed for Cook Strait’s new mega-ferries. There's no doubt the costs around the project have blown out, but where does this leave the vital inter-island crossing, and what does the government now do about it?
