Brain Prompting: The science of instructing your brain

In this episode, Owen explores what he calls ‘brain prompting’ which is about communicating with your brain like you do with Chat GPT or AI. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a rapidly growing field with many practical applications. One popular use of AI is chatbots, such as GPT and Chat GPT, which can hold conversations and answer questions. Chat GPT has access to a massive database of information from the internet and can create content, improve existing content, and adjust its style or tone. Brain prompting is a strategy for prompting your brain to work more effectively, similar to how we prompt AI.  Brain prompting draws from various fields such as neuroscience, psychology, neuro-linguistic programming, and cognitive behavioral therapy to offer us a way to influence ourselves better. It involves asking questions, making requests, and specifying what you want from your brain. Asking Questions: There are six different functions of questioning ourselves:  Hunt for answers and gather information. Create emotions and influence how we feel. Build Curiosity  Challenge our beliefs and help us to choose more empowering beliefs. Clarify information. Dictate focus and help us to prioritize what is important. Requests: Skillfully framing requests can help you get better results from your brain. There are two strategies to communicate with your brain effectively:  "I want you to X"   "Act as if you were X." When you give your brain clear and definite instructions of what you want to achieve, it can often help the brain to achieve it. Specificity: Specificity can be applied to brain prompting by being clear and granular about what you want the brain to do. When you communicate with others, consider: The specific target audience The specific information you have about them The specific action you want them to do The specific tone or style, or format you need to communicate with them in   Subscribe to the Changing Minds Podcast: https://owenfitzpatrick.com/changing-minds-podcast/ Visit my website: https://owenfitzpatrick.com/
