John took a break from music to enter politics, where he was elected to the legislature of Ulster County, NY, the Saugerties Board of Education, and finally to the U.S. House of Representatives representing the 19th congressional district of New York., where he served from 2007 to 2011. He continues to play with Orleans as well as release solo material, including his latest album titled Reclaiming My Time.
