Farmers will have to pay for agricultural emissions under a scheme proposed by the Government in response to advice from the sector and the Climate Change Commission. It's proposed that farmers start paying levies on emissions from 2025. The price will be set by Cabinet based on advice from the Climate Change Commission and some input from the sector   ACT leader David Seymour says a referendum on the Treaty of Waitangi is a “bottom line” for his party, but its potential coalition partner National isn’t interested.   The Government needs to tax wealth and corporates more - that's the call from Oxfam Aotearoa after its international inequality index found New Zealand ranks 136th out of 161 countries when it comes to fair wealth distribution.
