BEHIND THE VELVET ROPE - A podcast by David Yontef
Categories:
In anticipation of her first ever Watch What Happens Appearance, tonight is the night, in what is to go down as one of the most historic weeks in WWHL history, Princesses: Long Island's Chanel Omari steps Behind The Rope. Taking a break from her thriving comedy career and hosting her own “Chanel In The City Podcast” (as featured last season on The Real Housewives of New York City), the woman whose friends call her Coco, Chanel Omari is here to tell it all. Having not seen each other since a Countess Luann and Friends Christmas show, Chanel and David quickly catch up. Why not start with a review of the night and the Countess Christmas show way back when. We also need all the deets about Chanel’s two BFFS Lindsay and Dina Lohan. No really, she is close with both. Okay, now onto what everyone wants to talk about, Princesses: Long Island. Chanel takes us back to the beginning of Princesses: Long Island. She explains how the concept for the show came about, how it was “cast” and how it ultimately found its way, after a brief journey, to Bravo as a home. Chanel discusses the concept of the show, a series of Jewish Women out of college for a short period of time who end up living back with their parents in well to do enclaves of Long Island, New York. We discuss the difference between how the show was marketed, portrayed and perceived as a series of rich young entitled Long Islanders versus the reality of the struggles, both financially and emotionally, most of the cast were facing off camera in real life. Chanel also opens up about how hard it is to film a reality show with your real life friends and how it is almost impossible for many of those friendships to survive the strains of Reality TV. No discussion of Princesses: Long Island would be complete without the origins of the show’s name and how Chanel and the rest of the cast felt when they were told this would be the name of the series. We discuss how and why, despite Bravo being the perfect home for this show, it was cancelled after just one short season and why David and Chanel think it will always live on as one of the classic Bravo favorites of all time. We know you are preparing for your WWHL appearance, but thanks for fitting us into your busy schedule Miss Omari. Perhaps you will be back soon. #staytuned @chanelomari @chanelinthecitypodcast @chanelinthe @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available On Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope This Episode is brought to you by Apostrophe https://www.apostrophe.com/pod/VELVET/ ($15 off First Visit) Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
