Alan Watts - You Must Go it Alone

I’ll never see her again. Untrue. But she’s dead now! Were you dead before you were born? No. I just hadn’t been born yet. Does a baby see love or experience love or both? Both, if the baby isn’t born blind. What about all of the babies who are born blind? Well, it’s not these baby’s fault they can’t see the people who love them? And neither are these baby’s at fault because they cannot hate the people we see as a statically and historically sort of noun. We can fanaticize for good or for ill about images only looked at but not seen through. We don’t love memories of images. We love the real-time experiences of the unseen soul who emanated then and emanates now unconditional acceptance. The person mirrored this acceptance once because we were open to acceptance. Picture frames promote illusions. In the nature of objects we often speak of such buildings, homes, cars and fences as being things that will be ‘here’ long after we’re dead and gone. But it’s a peculiar realization once see a that no human being was ever or is ever a time piece subject to rusting and eventual ruin. That’s the business of chronological time and chronological time is a pattern and thus, capable of observational inventiveness. Chronological time pieces value little everything that they supposedly are able to measure. Especially people. A person who mirrors even once his or her peace within real-time back to you (and there is no other sort of time) can’t lose what you are and you can’t lose who they are. Peace is a universal truth. All experience it in real-time and reality isn’t historically hemmed in or logically challenged. Whoever lives in real-time knows nothing of unreal time and the only “time” that is unreal is time perceived as sheerly nostalgia. But there’s a more absurd illusion that isn’t fit to be termed time by any stretch of consciousness. This is the nonexistent future. And, if honest, many of us would admit we perceive God as object of superstition, a part of speech. Not part of nature much less a real-time verb. What else is being itself but real-time. Often we must get rid of God as we cannot even ascribe meaning to God (but some say they understand God as a noun and they are generally atheists, theologians, unconverted parochial priests, pastors or corpses. As Saint Anomie or the Cross stated, “God refuses to be known by the mind. A heart bent towards heaven has a mind that’s not its own. It offers permanence by the heart’s humility for soul union. This is not too much to ask. Not to ask of such is timidity regardless of what reasons the intellect’s final defence is for testing spirits. Take the exam. You will not fail.”
