Devi Mahathmyam, Chapter 12: Bhagavati Vakyam

In Chapter 12 of Devi Mahatmyam, the Goddess declares that all those who read or listen to the stories of her greatness and valor in battle as narrated in the Devi Mahatmyam on Ashtami, Chathurthi, and Navami days will be free of sins, suffer no poverty and have loving relationships. She adds that such people will not be troubled by enemies, thieves or kings and that they need not fear weapons, fire, and floods. It would also remove all forms of pestilence and problems arising from ghosts, devils, and natural disasters. By hearing the story of her greatness, during Sharad Navratri and Vasantha Navratri, all problems of her devotees would vanish. They would experience peace and protection from nightmares and the adverse effects of the planets.
