"Machines are built to work 24/7, but not human beings." This is a fantastic quote from Marie Forleo that has always stood out to me because most humans aren't very good at balancing all the areas of life to be sane and healthy. And that goes for our mental wellness, too. We have to be aware of how we set boundaries around our time and energy, but also our mental wellness. In this episode with Ashley Sperber-Hirsch, we take a deep dive into the connection between our emotional and physical well-being. If you don't take care of your emotional struggles and resolve those things that are unresolved that angst and dis-ease will manifest with physical symptoms. If I'm honest, I haven't always been great at setting boundaries, or sticking to them. In fact, I had to learn the hard way when I wore myself down to a point of almost being hospitalized. Over the years, I've definitely come to understand the importance of being aware of my mental wellness, just as much as I'm aware of my need for exercise, dog kisses, and time with my family. It's required, not optional. But before you can make strides to nourish your beautiful emotional mind, there's one thing I know for sure... you have to understand how important it is in your daily life that you take care of yourself. You have to know the WHY. Take a moment and answer these questions for yourself. * Why do you want to make a commitment to better mental wellness? * Why do you want to stay with it day in and day out? * Why is it important to you? (and your family) Getting crystal clear on why you are doing this is imperative if you want to make your mental health and self-care a priority and make it work for you.
