A Way with Words - language, linguistics, and callers from all over - A podcast by Hosted by Martha Barnette and Grant Barrett. Produced by Stefanie Levine. - Mondays

Pranks, cranks, and chips. As a kid, you may have played that game where you phone someone to say, "Is your refrigerator running? Then you better go catch it!" Hint: the phrase arose at a time when there were many more wooden structures around.
