Facing inner fear and coming out

20s Crisis Podcast - A podcast by emmastenborn - Thursdays

In this episode I sit down with my best friend Ebba to discuss her personal journey of coming out as gay. She shares how challenging it was to accept that she liked girls. Even though she knew her family and friends would be supportive it was the inner homophobia that complicated everything. (Inner homophobia is the negative feelings someone has toward their sexual orientation due to societal stigma or prejudice. It can cause shame, guilt, or denial of their identity, especially in people coming to terms with being gay or bisexual.) This is something that is a common struggle for many who are learning to accept their true selves.   We talk about the fears she faced, and how the journey to self-acceptance wasn't easy. Today, she proudly embraces her identity, but it took time, reflection, and personal growth to get there.
